Do We Know Dewey?
A site created by school children all about the Dewey Decimal System!
Here's some useful tips from their website:
Call numbers
A call number is a group of numbers and/or letters put together to tell you
where in the library to find your book. Call numbers are found on the bottom of the spine of the book.
Clue: Call numbers in the children's section start with"J" for juvenile (another word for child).
The Difference between Fiction and Nonfiction books
Fiction - Books that are made up by
the author, or are not true,
are fiction. Fiction call numbers start with "F" or "FIC" (for fiction) followed by the initial or first three initial of the author's last name.
Nonfiction-Books that are true,
are about real things, people,
events, and places. Nonfiction call numbers start with three numbers followed by a dot and more numbers, then the first three initial of the author's last name.
